Soccearth is a way of understanding the sizes of small things. Imagine a soccer ball blown up to the size of the Earth. What would things look like? That is the place we call Soccearth.

The bacterial cell wall on Soccearth would be a rigid open scaffold-like structure 1 meter thick with many holes where small molecules can get in and out. It would be as thick as the wall at the bottom of this picture, with holes like the wall at the top.

Remember that inside the cell wall there is a thin, flexible cell membrane.
