Nucleus of Galaxy

Now let's look at the main parts of our Milky Way galaxy.

At the centre of spiral galaxies there is a central bulge or nucleus containing old stars packed closely together. It is hard to see the nucleus of the Milky Way because it is hidden by the gas and dust of the disc. It is almost certain that Sagittarius A* is a supermassive black hole at the centre of the nucleus.
