MigrationsThe invasions of the nomads led to large movements of many peoples. Often the invading nomads would take up a settled way of life when they found a suitable place. One of these movements took the Jews from Babylon (in ancient Iraq) to Israel. This half-nomadic people were led by a religious leader called Abraham. He taught that there is only one God, who had selected the tribe of Abraham to start a great nation. Abraham was to lead his tribe to the chosen land of Israel. This and many other mass movements of people which started around that time, has led to disputes over who owns what land. These disputes are still causing wars today.
