Particles interact. For example two electrons will repel each other when they meet. This is very lucky. If particles did not interact there would have been no story to tell. The Macrocosmos would have evolved with all particles living dull little lives of their own.

Particles interact by exchanging other particles. For example, electrons repel each other by swapping a particle called a photon.
