Roman Empire

The Roman empire followed the Macedonian and grew until it surrounded the Mediterranean and stretched up through Europe as far as Britain. The ideas of the Greeks were largely forgotten because they did not lead to any useful products.

A religious leader called Jesus started the Christian religion in Israel about 2000 years ago. He taught that people should love one another, and that people who believed in Him would win eternal life. 300 years later Christianity was adopted as the official religion of the Roman Empire.
