Before the Big Bang

Humanity seems to have a need to understand his ultimate origins. That's the need which this website is trying to satisfy, after all! So what happened before the Big Bang? This is the most difficult question of all, and at present we are very far from the answer.

But, since ignorance breeds speculation, there are many ideas about what might have happened. So next I will describe one theory of how it might have all begun. Note that it is very speculative, and that other theories exist. Nevertheless, it will give a flavor of the sort of ideas which scientists dream up to explain our existence.
