| A complete ecosystem must have developed around this time. The blue-green bacteria and the algae were the producers. The protozoa were the consumers, and the fungi and most of the bacteria were the decomposers. They re-cycled molecules between them, with the energy of the Sun driving the whole ecosystem. |
