Carbon dioxide molecules are made from one carbon and two oxygen atoms joined together by covalent bonds.
The chemical symbol is CO2.

These molecules were found in the atmosphere of the young earth. They are absorbed by plants during photosynthesis and released by animals during respiration. So carbon dioxide is continually recycled in the air.
