Soccearth is a way of understanding the sizes of small things. Imagine a soccer ball blown up to the size of the Earth. What would things look like? That is the place we call Soccearth.

On Soccearth a typical bacterium is about 50 meters long and 25 meters across, the size of this hot air balloon for example. Its outer cell wall is about 1 meter thick, and the oily membrane below it is around 15 centimeters thick.
