An angstrom is a unit of length used to measure small things such as the wavelengths of light, atoms and molecules.
Ten billion angstroms equal 1 meter.
It is named for the 19th-century Swedish physicist Anders Jonas Angstrom. The symbol is Å.
Since a typical atom is about 1 angstroms across, we use atoms as units of measurement in this History of the Universe instead of angstroms. When we say something is so many atoms across, what we really mean is so many angstroms across.
